About this sunburst patio cover Universal City project

Sunburst patio cover Universal City: a lean-to all steel awning custom designed by the customer and I. The patio cover is simple, yet rugged and beautiful and will be sure to last for many years. This patio cover measured 16’x18′ and at it’s peak is 15′ tall. The eaves of the patio cover were at 7′. The patio cover was attached to the home and sealed to prevent rain runoff from hitting the patio. The frame was painted and color matched to the home.

Why a lean-to steel patio cover works

A lean-to cover is attached to the house on one side, which makes it an easy way to add shade to a patio that is already part of your daily routine. The roof rises from the 7′ eaves to the 15′ peak, and that height gives the space an open, airy feel instead of a low ceiling over your head. Sealing the cover where it meets the home, as was done here, helps keep rain runoff from hitting the patio below.

Steel suits the climate in our area. It stands up to strong Texas sun, does not rot, and needs little upkeep over the years.
